"...Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." Matthew 25:40
Lutheran Volunteer Corps (LVC) has come to Atlanta! LVC is a national volunteer service program that partners with full-time volunteers and over 100 social justice organizations and ministries in several cities in the United States. In addition to working for justice, LVC Volunteers live together in intentional household communities of 4-7 people, deepen their spirituality, and encourage simple, sustainable living.
In Atlanta, we are busy identifying social justice and peace organizations in need of a one-year, full-time volunteer. If your organization or agency is interested in exploring what LVC has to offer, or if you are interested in committing one year of spiritual service in the interest of social justice and peace, contact Pamela Ayo Yetunde, Program Developer, at Atlanta@lutheranvolunteercorps.org.
Volunteers are always needed to assist with our many services. The following are just a few of the ways you may become a valued member of this ministry:
1. Help with disaster response efforts.
2. Assist with the LSG Refugee Clothes Closet.
3. Perform clerical duties.
4. Coordinate the gathering of gifts for the children and adults we serve in
foster care, adoption, refugee resettlement or FACES.
5. Prepare and send birthday cards to children and adults in the programs listed
above.
6. Help the pick up furniture and household donations for refugee families.
7. Drive and accompany refugees to government offices for required registration.
8. Sponsor a drive to furnish an apartment for a newly arriving refugee family.
9. Provide refreshments for people attending orientation or training sessions to
become foster or adoptive parents.
10. Babysit the children of adults attending foster care or adoptive parent
training sessions.
